Mr Ian Dart
Since 2004 Ian
Dart has held the position of Managing Director, Northern Region of Logical
Technologies Pty Ltd, a long established and privately owned Australian IT
services company. He also holds the part-time position of Project Director of
the start-up company Advertiles Corporation Pty Ltd, which has been established
to undertake the development and manufacture of innovative light-emitting-diode
advertising signage.
Ian joined BHP as a student in 1970 and after graduating in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Adelaide in 1972, held several operations positions in mine facilities at Whyalla in South Australia and on Belitung Island in Indonesia.
In the 10 years after returning to Australia from Indonesia in 1979, Ian managed a number of major engineering construction projects for BHP Engineering. Then, following brief involvement in managing a tender for the Australian Defence Department’s Jindalee Over-the-horizon Radar Network, he moved on to the Australian systems integration activities of BHP Information Technology (BHP IT), an organisation of some 1750 people.
Ian was then President of BHP Information Technology from February 1996 until its sale to Computer Sciences Corporation in May 2000.
With his wife Cheryle, Ian lives in the Sydney suburb of Rozelle and they have two daughters who live in Sydney and New York respectively. His interests include social history, a very occasional game of golf and motor cars.
